The Lagos state government has suspended the general manager of Lagos State Infrastructure and Asset Management Agency (LASIAMA), Adenike Adekanmbi.
This followed the submitted report by the panel appointed to investigate the unfortunate elevator accident at the General Hospital, Odan, that led to the death of Dr Vwaere Diaso.
The Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Information and Strategy, Mr Olumide Sogunle said the state also sacked and blacklisted other facility mangers.
Mr Sogunle noted that the State has handed the installation and maintenance contractors to the police for further investigation and likely prosecution if they are found culpable.
The State also changed the reporting line of the Maintenance team at the Hospital to involve the Management of the Hospital and have Engineers unravel why all the safety devices of the elevator failed at the same time.
The state safety commission has been ordered to immediately carry out an audit of all elevators in public offices.
On Wednesday, August 2, Dr Vwaere Diaso, a medical doctor at the General Hospital in Odan, Lagos met a harrowing end when an elevator she was in at the hospital dropped from the 10th floor to the ground.
