Istanbul, Turkey— Besiktas have officially confirmed the signing of Nigerian international midfielder Wilfred Ndidi on a permanent transfer from Leicester City, as reported by Completesports.com and confirmed by multiple sources.
Ndidi, 28, joined the Turkish Super Lig giants from the Sky Bet Championship side after undergoing a successful medical in Istanbul. He has penned a three-year contract with the option for a fourth year.
Expressing his excitement on Besiktas’ official website, Ndidi said, “It’s really amazing. Joining Besiktas is a really great feeling. It feels very warm and welcoming. Before I put on the shirt, I kissed the badge, which is very important as it shows my love.”
During his eight seasons at Leicester City, Ndidi made over 300 appearances, scored 18 goals, and was instrumental in the club’s 2021 FA Cup triumph. He leaves following Leicester’s recent relegation from the Premier League after a challenging campaign.
Besiktas secured Ndidi’s transfer for a reported fee of around €9.5 million (£8 million), aiming to strengthen their midfield ahead of the 2025/26 season.
This signing follows a trend of notable Nigerian stars moving to the Turkish league, underscoring the growing presence of Nigerian talent in Turkey’s top flight.
