Florence Ifeoluwa Otedola, Nigerian disc jockey professionally known as DJ Cuppy, has partnered with British Airways to bring exclusive afrobeat playlist to flyers on the airline’s long-haul route, starting November 1.
Calum Laming, the Chief Customer Officer of British Airways, disclosed this in a statement on Thursday, announcing the launch of the airline’s new route from Accra to London’s Gatwick.
Luming said this was to celebrate the increase in the number of flights between Africa and London.
The London-based Nigerian artist whose DJ abilities have brought her to over 30 different countries, has selected her favorite songs for the airline’s in-flight entertainment system.
The playlist includes tracks, such as “Jollof On The Jet” and “Feel Good”, which combine hip hop and reggae with spicy African beats.
DJ Cuppy, expressing her excitement on their inaugural Afrobeats playlist, said music has the power to transport listeners to other places, just like the airline. She said she was hopeful that the playlist would uplift travelers.
