Washington, D.C., USA — Sean “Diddy” Combs, the embattled American music mogul, is seeking a presidential pardon from Donald Trump ahead of his upcoming sentencing in October.
This was disclosed by Nicole Westmoreland, a member of Combs’ legal team, during an interview with CNN on Tuesday.
According to her, preliminary discussions regarding the pardon request have already taken place. “It’s my understanding that we’ve reached out and had conversations in reference to a pardon,” Westmoreland revealed.
However, former President Donald Trump appeared dismissive of the idea during a recent interview with Newsmax, noting that despite a cordial past with Combs, the music star’s political stance during Trump’s campaign may affect the outcome.
“I was very friendly with him. I got along with him great and he seemed like a nice guy,” Trump recalled. “I didn’t know him well, but when I ran for office, he was very hostile… I would say so, yeah,” he added when asked whether he would consider pardoning Combs.
Combs was convicted in July by a New York jury on two counts of transportation for the purpose of prostitution, with each count carrying a potential 10-year prison sentence.
DNI reports that he was acquitted of more serious charges, including racketeering and sex trafficking, following a highly publicized trial marked by disturbing testimonies.
The court has scheduled sentencing for October 3, 2025.
