Professor Yusuf Saidu, the Deputy Vice Chancellor of Usman Danfodiyo University Sokoto, was killed by bandits while traveling to Kaduna on an official visit.
Prior to his death, Professor Saidu served in the Department of Research, Innovation, and Development at the university.
In an official statement, the university’s Public Relations Officer confirmed that Professor Saidu was attacked and fatally shot by gunmen during the journey.
The university extended its condolences to the family and friends of the deceased, expressing deep sorrow over the tragic loss.
