Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Benjamin Okezie Kalu, has expressed deep sorrow over the death of Hon. Olaide Adewale Akinremi, the member representing Ibadan North Federal Constituency of Oyo State.
Akinremi, widely known as Jagaban, passed away early Wednesday in Abuja following a brief illness.
In a condolence message released by his Special Assistant on Press Affairs, Udora Orizu, Deputy Speaker Kalu conveyed his profound grief at the loss. He praised the late lawmaker’s significant contributions to nation-building through legislative efforts and policies.
Kalu highlighted Akinremi’s commitment to serving all Nigerians, regardless of ethnic background, and noted his dedication to the development of both his constituency and the country.
He reminisced about Akinremi’s active involvement in legislative activities and his role within the All Progressives Congress (APC), stating that his presence will be greatly missed.
Deputy Speaker Kalu extended his heartfelt condolences to the Akinremi family, the Ibadan North Federal Constituency, the government and people of Oyo State, and the entire APC community. He affirmed that Akinremi’s legacy will continue to inspire those who worked with him and benefited from his leadership.
He prayed for Almighty God to grant Akinremi’s family and loved ones the strength to endure this irreparable loss.
