The Chairman of the Dangote Group, Aliko Dangote has offered to sell his $20 billion Dangote Refinery to the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited amid challenges.
Dangote made this known in an interview on Sunday.
According to him, it was unfair to label him as being a monopolist despite Dangote Refinery’s efforts aimed at solving the country’s fuel importation problem.
“This refinery can help in resolving the problem but it does appear some people are uncomfortable that I am in the picture.
“So I am ready to let go, let the NNPC buy me out, and run the refinery. At least the country will have high-quality products and create jobs,” he added.
He was speaking amid the recent statement by the Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority that petroleum products from the Dangote refinery were inferior.
Ahmed had also said it was risky to make Dangote Refinery a monopoly, especially for Automotive Gas Oil and Dual Purpose Kerosene, DPK.
Meanwhile, Dangote had earlier on Saturday dismissed Ahmed’s statement on his products being inferior while he called for an independent test.
