The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has officially commenced its recruitment process, opening applications for positions in its Superintendent, Inspector, and Customs Assistant cadres. This exercise, which began on December 27, 2024, follows the approval to recruit 3,927 officers in 2025. The recruitment is part of efforts to strengthen trade facilitation and contribute to Nigeria’s economic recovery.
The NCS has assured Nigerians that the recruitment process is entirely free of charge. It warned applicants to be cautious of scammers who may attempt to exploit the exercise. “Our recruitment process is completely FREE and FAIR. We DO NOT charge any fees at any stage of the recruitment process. If anyone demands payment, they are scammers,” the service emphasized.
Eligibility requirements vary for the three cadres. Applicants for the Superintendent Cadre are required to have a degree from a recognized institution. For the Inspectorate Cadre, candidates must hold a National Diploma (ND) or Nigeria Certificate in Education (NCE). Meanwhile, candidates for the Customs Assistant Cadre need to have at least an O’Level qualification (WAEC or NECO).
In addition to the academic qualifications, all applicants must be physically and mentally fit. They will also need to provide evidence of medical fitness issued by a recognized government hospital.
The recruitment portal, https://recruitment.customs.gov.ng, opened on December 27, 2024, and will remain accessible until January 2, 2025. Interested candidates are encouraged to complete their applications within this timeframe to avoid missing out on the opportunity.
