The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has announced the appointment of new members to its management team in an acting capacity, following the retirement of some senior officers.
In a statement released on Friday by the NCS National Public Relations Officer, Abdullahi Maiwada, it was confirmed that the Comptroller General of Customs (CGC), Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, approved the key appointments and redeployments to strengthen the Service’s operations.
Among the newly appointed officers, Assistant Comptrollers-General of Customs Bello Jibo and Olaniyi Alajogun have been promoted to the position of Deputy Comptrollers-General of Customs. Jibo will now oversee the Finance, Administration, and Technical Services (FATS) department, while Alajogun takes charge of the Enforcement, Inspection, and Investigation (EI&I) unit.
The statement further outlined additional appointments, including IG Umar as Acting Assistant Comptroller-General (ACG) of Headquarters, OA Salefu as Acting ACG for Training and Doctrine Command (TRADOC), BA Malinde as Acting ACG for Human Resource Development (HRD), and T Bomodi as Acting ACG for Enforcement, Inspection, and Investigation (EI&I).
The NCS emphasized that these changes are aimed at ensuring strategic leadership and optimizing service delivery. “These appointments are a testament to the officers’ exemplary services and commitment to the Nigeria Customs Service. The Service remains focused on providing leadership that will drive efficient and effective performance,” the statement read.
The Comptroller General of Customs expressed appreciation to the retired members of the management team for their dedicated service and urged the newly appointed officers to intensify efforts in advancing the Service’s goals of revenue generation, smuggling suppression, and trade facilitation.
