The bodies of five workers who died in a construction site have been brought out by rescuers in Obingwu community, Ukwa West LGA of Abia State.
The victims were trapped under a three-storey building construction that collapsed.
Though the cause of the building collapse has not been established officially, local sources in the community blamed the tragedy on alleged use of substandard material.
A source further claimed that most of the dead victims were nationals of a West African country working for a contractor.
Abia State Ministry of Lands and Housing could not be reached for comment on the matter.
Abia State Police Command is yet to speak on the matter.
