Ido Osun, Osun State — Fresh assurances have been given that construction work will soon recommence at the long-awaited Moshood Abiola International Airport in Ido Osun, Osun State.
This development was announced by Hon. Sanya Okunade, Chairman of the Olojudo Coronation Central Planning Committee, during a press briefing outlining the upcoming coronation activities of the 47th Olojudo of Ido Osun, Oba Olayinka Oyetunde Jokotola.
Hon. Okunade expressed confidence that the project is back on track, emphasizing that renewed federal government support has effectively removed obstacles that once threatened the airport’s relocation by the state government.
He described the anticipated resumption of work as a promising step for the region’s infrastructural development, adding that the airport project remains a top priority for Ido Osun’s progress.
Turning attention to the forthcoming royal event, Okunade disclosed that the grand finale of the four-day coronation ceremony will take place on Saturday, May 24, 2025, with notable guests including Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke; the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi; and the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, among other distinguished personalities.
According to him, the coronation represents more than a ceremonial affair—it signals a cultural rebirth and reaffirms the community’s shared values and identity. He also revealed that honorary chieftaincy titles will be bestowed on select individuals in recognition of their contributions to society.
Okunade assured the public of tight security arrangements for all three stages of the festivities—pre-coronation, coronation day, and post-coronation engagements—aimed at ensuring a smooth and memorable occasion.
He extended an open invitation to indigenes, residents, and friends of Ido Osun to actively partake in the historic event, describing the upcoming reign as one built on the pillars of peace, unity, and collective prosperity.
