Constituents express disappointment over Ondo lawmaker’s absence from Senate session.

Constituents of Ondo East and West Federal Constituency in Nigeria have expressed concern over the extended absence of their representative, Abiola Makinde, from Senate plenary sessions.

A group known as Ekimogun Roundtable has taken action by writing to the Speaker and Clerk of the National Assembly.

The letter, signed by Acting Secretary Christiana Ayodele, requests detailed information on Makinde’s attendance record in the 10th Assembly.

The constituents have observed Makinde’s absence from plenary for several weeks, leaving the constituency without representation.

Ayodele emphasized the importance of lawmakers fulfilling their responsibilities to the people and stated that the Ekimogun Roundtable is dedicated to holding public officials, including Makinde, accountable and transparent in their duties.

The group has threatened legal action against the National Assembly if their request for information is not granted according to existing regulations.

However, when reached for comment, one of the senator’s aides dismissed the group as faceless and mentioned that the senator would not engage with them.
