Compassionate lawmaker gifts wheelchairs to physically challenged persons

The member representing Duguri/Gwana Constituency in the Bauchi State House of Assembly, Hon Bala Abdullahi Dan, has donated tricycle-wheelchairs to physically challenged persons in his constituency in a move to reduce their suffering.

Speaking during the disbursement ceremony in Duguri, Alkaleri local government area, he said people living with disabilities face numerous challenges, especially those from poor families and as a result, many of them don’t go to school or engage in trades and businesses because of the conditions they find themselves.

He added that the physically challenged are the most ignored people in the society although they are people with special needs, hence the reason he decided to facilitate the donation in order to impact positively on their lives.

He urged the beneficiaries to make good use of the donation by going back to school and engaging in economic activities in order to earn a legitimate livelihood.

The lawmaker stated that his partnership with City Gate Handicapped People Centre would be strengthened so that they can do a lot together to help people, especially those with special needs.
