Abuja, Nigeria — The Vice President of Colombia, Her Excellency Francia Márquez, has landed at Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, for a three-day official visit aimed at deepening ties between Colombia and Nigeria.
She was welcomed by senior Nigerian government officials, including the Minister of Innovation, Science and Technology, Uche Nnaji, Minister of Women Affairs, Imaan Suleiman, Minister of State for the FCT, Dr. Mariya Mahmoud, and the Director General of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), Zubaida Umar.
Accompanied by her husband, Rafael Yerney Pinillo Ocoró, Márquez leads a delegation comprising cabinet ministers, senior officials, and top business leaders.
The visit seeks to enhance cooperation across key sectors such as governance, trade, agriculture, energy, education, and security.
Key activities include signing several Memoranda of Understanding focusing on women empowerment, trade, aviation, manufacturing, agriculture, and culture.
Plenary sessions involving both countries’ vice presidents, a Nigeria-Colombia Business Forum, bilateral meetings, and side events like a summit on Artificial Intelligence and high-level business engagement, are also planned.
This historic engagement is expected to open new avenues for South-South collaboration and foster long-term prosperity between the two nations.
