Chief of Defence Staff Conducts Operational Tour, Engages with Governor Sanwo-Olu and Oba of Lagos

General Christopher Gwabin Musa, the Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), embarked on a significant visit to Lagos State, where he engaged with key figures including Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu at the Alausa State House and Chief Rilwan Babatunde Akiolu, the esteemed Oba of Lagos. This tour formed a pivotal aspect of the CDS’s agenda, focusing on evaluating military establishments and initiating dialogues with stakeholders to tackle pressing national security concerns.

In a statement released by the Director of Defence Information, Brigadier General Tukur Gusau, General Musa lauded Governor Sanwo-Olu’s dedication to enhancing the living standards in Lagos. Acknowledging the city’s paramount role in Nigeria’s economic landscape and its representation of the nation, General Musa underscored the importance of concerted efforts in upholding security and stability.

Furthermore, General Musa expressed gratitude for the hospitality extended to Prince Harry and Meghan during their recent visit to Nigeria, highlighting the international attention garnered by the country during their stay. Additionally, he commended the heightened security measures implemented in Lagos and praised the allocation of land for the Nigeria Armed Forces Resettlement Centre in Oshodi, emphasizing its potential contribution to agricultural development.

Governor Sanwo-Olu reciprocated by commending the military’s unwavering commitment, noting a significant decline in criminal activities. He recognized General Musa’s leadership in promoting peace and security nationwide, pledging continuous support to the military’s endeavors in Lagos.

At the Oba of Lagos’s palace, General Musa expressed gratitude for the Oba’s steadfast support to the Armed Forces of Nigeria, assuring him of the military’s steadfast commitment to safeguarding Lagos. The Oba, in turn, praised the CDS’s dedication to national security, expressing optimism for a more secure Nigeria.

Additionally, General Musa visited various military formations in Lagos, urging personnel to escalate efforts in combating insecurity. These engagements underscored the imperative of collaboration between the military and civil authorities in ensuring the safety and welfare of Lagos residents and all Nigerians.
