Zanzibar— Ani Ozoemena and Abdularafiu Taiwo face doubts over their availability for Nigeria’s upcoming match against Sudan in the 2024 African Nations Championship.
According to newsmen, goalkeeper Ozoemena missed the 1-0 loss to Senegal due to a knee injury, while left-back Taiwo, who started the same Group D game, sustained a knock in the second half and was substituted in the 64th minute by Harrison Uzondu.
Both players were absent from the team’s recovery session on Wednesday morning, as confirmed by the media officer, Promise Efoghe. Head coach Eric Chelle remains hopeful that they will recover in time for the vital fixture against Sudan.
The match is scheduled for Tuesday next week at Amman Stadium in Zanzibar. Sudan currently sit on a 1-1 draw against Congo Brazzaville from their opening game.
