Abuja, Nigeria — The Super Eagles Team B will face tough competition in Group D of the 2024 African Nations Championship (CHAN), now rescheduled to August 2025.
The tournament, jointly hosted by Tanzania, Kenya, and Uganda, promises intense matchups as 20 teams vie for continental glory.
The official draw took place at the Kenyatta International Convention Centre in Nairobi, Kenya, on Wednesday evening. Group D features Nigeria alongside Senegal, Sudan, and the Republic of Congo in what many are calling the “Group of Death.”
In Group A, co-hosts Kenya will kick off the tournament against 2018 champions Morocco. Angola, the Democratic Republic of Congo, and Zambia complete the group, promising a fierce battle for qualification.
Group B, led by co-hosts Tanzania, includes Madagascar, Mauritania, Burkina Faso, and the Central African Republic, the team that eliminated Cameroon during the qualifiers. With only two knockout-stage spots available, all five teams will be fighting for survival.
Meanwhile, Group C pits Uganda, the third co-host, against Niger Republic, Guinea, and two additional teams yet to be announced by the Confederation of African Football (CAF). These wild card entries will add unpredictability to an already competitive group.
The full group stage draw is as follows:
– Group A: Kenya, Morocco, Angola, DR Congo, Zambia
– Group B: Tanzania, Madagascar, Mauritania, Burkina Faso, Central African Republic
– Group C: Uganda, Niger Republic, Guinea, Wild Card 1, Wild Card 2
– Group D: Senegal, Sudan, Congo Brazzaville, Nigeria
With teams like Morocco, Senegal, and Nigeria all in contention, this edition of CHAN promises to deliver thrilling action, showcasing Africa’s finest home-based talents.
