CAF Unveils Match Officials for 2024 WAFCON

Rabat, MoroccoThe Confederation of African Football (CAF) has officially revealed the lineup of match officials for the upcoming 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON).

A total of 46 match officials—including Referees, Assistant Referees, and Video Assistant Referees (VAR)—have been appointed for the prestigious tournament, representing the best of Africa’s female officiating talent.

This figure marks a new record for the competition, surpassing the 40 officials selected for the 2022 edition.

The contingent includes 18 Referees, 18 Assistant Referees, and 10 VAR specialists from 30 African nations. Host nation Morocco leads with the highest representation, contributing five officials.

Among them is Bouchra Karboubi, who has previously officiated at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations in Côte d’Ivoire and is also set to participate in the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.

Another notable name is Salima Mukansanga, who officiated the WAFCON 2022 final between Morocco and South Africa and now returns as a certified VAR official.

The 2024 WAFCON tournament will take place in Morocco from Saturday, 5 July to Saturday, 26 July.
