Brighton Hails Chiamaka Nnadozie on Ballon d’Or Yachine Trophy Nomination

Brighton and Hove Albion, EnglandBrighton and Hove Albion have warmly congratulated their newly signed goalkeeper and Nigeria’s first-choice Super Falcons keeper, Chiamaka Nnadozie, following her nomination for the prestigious 2025 Ballon d’Or Yachine Trophy, awarded to the world’s best female goalkeeper.

Nnadozie, aged 24, was named among five shortlisted goalkeepers, including Ann-Katrin Berger (Gotham FC/Germany), Cata Coll (Barcelona/Spain), Hannah Hampton (Chelsea/England), and Daphne van Domselaar (Arsenal/Netherlands).

Her nomination follows an exceptional season with Paris FC, France, where she played a pivotal role in capturing the French Cup by saving penalties in a shootout victory over Paris Saint-Germain. She also delivered stellar performances at the 2025 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) in Morocco, assisting Nigeria’s Super Falcons to a stunning 3-2 comeback win in the final against hosts Morocco, earning the Best Goalkeeper of the Tournament award.

In response to her nomination, Brighton posted on their official X (formerly Twitter) account from England: “Congratulations to #WAFCON24 winner @NadozieChiamaka with a well-deserved #BallonDor Yachine Trophy nomination!”

Additionally, Super Falcons head coach Justin Madugu received a nod for the Best Women’s Coach category, recognizing his leadership in guiding Nigeria to their record-equalling 10th WAFCON title.

The 69th Ballon d’Or ceremony will take place on September 22, 2025, at the Theatre du Chatelet in Paris, France, where the winners will be announced.
