President Bola Tinubu has deployed security and intelligence agencies to swiftly rescue victims of abduction in Borno and Kaduna States, vowing to ensure justice is served against the perpetrators.
In an official statement released by the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Ajuri Ngelale, President Tinubu condemned the abductions, labeling the acts as unacceptable and issuing a decisive directive for the immediate rescue of the victims.
“I have received briefings from security chiefs on both incidents, and I am confident that the victims will be rescued. Nothing else is acceptable to me and the awaiting family members of these abducted citizens. Justice will be decisively administered,” President Tinubu declared.
Expressing solidarity with the families of the victims, the President assured them of a swift reunion with their loved ones.
Simultaneously, the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) has called for urgent action to ensure the safe return of the abducted school children.
Cristian Munduate, UNICEF Representative in Nigeria, emphasized in a statement that the frequency of such incidents nationwide signals a crisis requiring immediate intervention from the government and society at all levels.
Highlighting the significance of schools as sanctuaries of learning, Munduate stressed, “Just a day prior to this incident, the UN Resident Coordinator spoke about the abductions of large numbers of women, girls, and boys by members of a non-state armed group in Borno State.”
UNICEF urged authorities to implement comprehensive measures to secure schools across Nigeria and announced ongoing coordination with local officials to provide assistance for affected families, including psychological support services.
