Renowned social media influencer and Delta State Sports Association chairman, Morris Monye, has reportedly announced the demise of veteran Nigerian actor Amaechi Muonagor.
Monye conveyed the sorrowful news via his verified online platform on Sunday.
Expressing profound grief, Monye emphasized Muonagor’s remarkable talent as a prominent figure in Nollywood.
“We are deeply saddened by the passing of Amaechi Muonagor. His remarkable performances on screen captivated audiences nationwide,” Monye stated.
He further revealed the actor’s longstanding battle with health complications, recalling efforts to facilitate his medical treatment abroad.
This tragic event underscores the urgent need for improved healthcare infrastructure in the nation, Monye emphasized.
Meanwhile, the Actor Guild of Nigeria (AGN) is yet to issue an official statement regarding the reported demise, despite inquiries made by DAILY POST.
It’s worth noting that just a week ago, the 61-year-old actor appealed to the public for financial assistance for a kidney transplant through a distressing video.
Confirming his battle with kidney disease on November 27, 2023, Muonagor’s relative, Tony ‘Oneweek’ Muonagor, shed light on the actor’s health struggles.
Throughout his illustrious career, Muonagor graced numerous films, with one of his most memorable roles being in “Aki and Paw Paw,” where he portrayed the father of two mischievous teenagers.
Muonagor’s demise comes shortly after the passing of fellow actor Mr Ibu (John Okafor), who died on March 2, 2024.
