In a crucial development, the Federal Government has officially declared a 24-hour closure of the Third Mainland Bridge, affecting Iyana Oworonshoki-Lagos Island-bound traffic. This emergency measure, set to be implemented from midnight on Sunday, February 18, to midnight on Monday, February 19, is in response to the imperative need for comprehensive repairs to a vital section of the bridge.
Mrs. Olukorede Kesha, the Federal Controller of Works in Lagos State, delivered this critical announcement in a statement released on Saturday night. During this temporary closure, motorists traveling from the Island and heading towards Oworonshoki will maintain uninterrupted access to the bridge.
Mrs. Kesha emphasized the necessity of this 24-hour shutdown to facilitate effective repairs on the specified section of the bridge. She urged motorists to utilize alternative routes, adhere to the instructions of traffic regulatory officers, and exhibit patience as the government diligently works on this crucial infrastructure.
