Lagos, Nigeria — The Lagos State House of Assembly has made history by electing Hon. Mojisola Meranda as its first female Speaker.
Hon. Meranda, who previously served as Deputy Speaker, was sworn in immediately following the impeachment of Mudashiru Obasa on Monday. She now assumes leadership of the House, marking a significant milestone in the Assembly’s history.
The former Speaker, Obasa, was impeached over allegations of corrupt practices.
