Damaturu, Nigeria —Four people have been confirmed dead and 21 others injured following two separate improvised explosive device (IED) explosions in Gujba Local Government Area of Yobe State, allegedly planted by suspected ISWAP terrorists.
This was disclosed on Friday after a commercial vehicle transporting traders to Buni Yadi weekly market struck an IED near Bultaram village along the Goniri–Buni Yadi Road. The blast claimed three lives and left 21 others with various injuries. The victims were rushed to the Yobe State Specialist Hospital in Damaturu.
A few hours later, another explosion occurred in the same vicinity when a motorcyclist unknowingly triggered a second device. He was taken to the Buni Yadi General Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
Security operatives, including the Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) unit and local vigilantes, have been deployed to the area to conduct clearance operations and ensure public safety. Surveillance operations are ongoing as authorities work to identify and neutralize additional threats.
The government continues to call for public vigilance while reinforcing efforts to restore safety and peace to affected communities.
