Istanbul — Turkish giants Besiktas have officially submitted a bid for Nigerian defender Bright Osayi-Samuel, as the club looks to reinforce its squad ahead of the new season.
The 27-year-old full-back is nearing the end of his current deal with Istanbul rivals Fenerbahce, which is set to expire later this month. With contract renewal talks between Osayi-Samuel and Fenerbahce reportedly breaking down, Besiktas have moved swiftly to try and secure his services.
According to Turkish outlet Fotomac, Besiktas have placed the Super Eagles star at the top of their shortlist as they aim to address weaknesses in the right-back position. The club is said to be keen on wrapping up the deal quickly, as interest in the player grows beyond Turkey.
Premier League sides Crystal Palace and Fulham are also believed to be monitoring the situation closely, potentially setting the stage for a transfer tussle.
Osayi-Samuel joined Fenerbahce in January 2021 from English Championship side Queens Park Rangers. Over the 2024/25 campaign, he made 25 league appearances for the Yellow Canaries, contributing to both their defensive stability and attacking transitions down the flank.
With his future in Istanbul uncertain, all eyes now turn to whether Besiktas can outmaneuver other suitors and secure the Nigerian international before his contract officially ends.
