Benue: Governor Alia inaugurates 23 newly elected local government chairpersons.

Governor Hyacinth Alia of Benue State recently swore in the 23 newly elected local government council chairmen at a ceremony in Makurdi.

During the swearing-in ceremony, the governor emphasized the importance of accountability and transparency for the newly elected officials.

The local government chairmen were elected in the local government elections conducted by the Benue State Independent Electoral Commission (BSIEC) over the weekend.

The results of the elections revealed that candidates from the All Progressives Congress (APC) secured victory in all 23 chairmanship positions and 276 councillorship seats.

Governor Alia urged the newly sworn-in chairmen to prioritize responsibility towards the people, emphasizing the need for collaboration between local, state, and federal governments to ensure effective service delivery.

He also reminded them of the importance of working diligently, providing leadership, and maintaining high standards of governance in their respective councils.

The governor encouraged the chairmen to focus on delivering democratic dividends to the people and to faithfully fulfill their duties as elected representatives.

He reminded them that leadership is about service and sacrifice, and not personal glory, urging them to work in collaboration with the state government to implement policies and programs that benefit rural communities.
