Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed has appointed Alhaji Haruna Yunusa Danyaya as the 17th Emir of Ningi Emirate.
Alhaji Haruna Yunusa Danyaya, born in Ningi in 1956, was the immediate-past Chiroman Ningi. His appointment was confirmed in a letter signed by the Secretary to the Bauchi State Government, Barrister Ibrahim Muhammad Kashim. The decision was made under the powers vested in the governor by Cap. 24 Item 3 (1) of the Bauchi State laws (Appointment of Emirs/Chiefs and Deposition 1991), and based on recommendations from the kingmakers.
The appointment was announced on Sunday in a statement by Mukhtar Mohammed Gidado, the Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to Governor Mohammed. The Bauchi State Government expressed confidence in the new Emir’s ability to uphold his late father’s legacy of promoting unity, peace, and development within the Ningi Emirate and across Bauchi State.
The statement also emphasized Governor Mohammed’s commitment to supporting traditional institutions in their role of maintaining peace and progress within communities.
Governor Mohammed offered prayers for the peaceful repose of the late Emir’s soul and extended his best wishes for a successful reign, good health, and long life to the newly appointed Emir of Ningi.
The late 16th Emir of Ningi, Dr. Yunusa Muhammad Danyaya, was a highly respected first-class Emir who passed away last Sunday at the age of 88, after leading the Ningi Emirate for over 46 years.
