Barcelona, Spain — Barcelona sealed their place in the UEFA Champions League quarter-finals with a commanding 3-1 victory over Benfica in the second leg of their Round of 16 clash on Tuesday .
The Blaugrana progressed to the next stage with a 4-1 aggregate win, maintaining their dominance over the Portuguese side.
Barcelona took an early lead in the 11th minute when Lamine Yamal provided a precise assist for Brazilian winger Raphinha, who slotted home the opener. However, Benfica responded almost immediately, with Nicolas Otamendi leveling the score with a powerful header just two minutes later.
As the first half progressed, Yamal restored Barcelona’s lead in the 28th minute, unleashing a sublime shot from outside the box. The hosts extended their advantage just before halftime when Raphinha capitalized on a quick counter-attack in the 42nd minute, securing his second goal of the night.
Raphinha’s brace took his tally to 11 goals in the competition this season, making him the top scorer in the tournament so far.
With this emphatic win, Barcelona advance to the last eight of the UEFA Champions League, keeping their hopes of European glory alive.
