Baba-Ahmed Slams ADC Coalition, Calls for Obi’s Return to Labour Party

Lagos, NigeriaDatti Baba-Ahmed, the 2023 Labour Party vice-presidential candidate, has criticised the African Democratic Congress (ADC) coalition, accusing it of deceiving Nigerians with claims it can rescue the country from underdevelopment.

Speaking on Channels Television’s Politics Today, Baba-Ahmed said, “They are deceiving us,” referring to the coalition which includes his 2023 running mate, Peter Obi.

Baba-Ahmed expressed his continued loyalty to the Labour Party and a strong desire for Obi to contest the 2027 presidential election under the Labour Party platform.

“I’m in the Labour Party. I’m a Peter Obi man. I still want Peter Obi to come back to the Labour Party and contest the 2027 election,” he said.

When asked if he would be ready to serve again as Obi’s running mate, Baba-Ahmed replied, “If Nigeria is still around and there is an electoral system to follow.”

He further emphasized his undying love for Nigeria and his willingness to associate with like-minded groups to restore the nation.

Baba-Ahmed also revealed that there are only two individuals he would consider deputising: “The first one has not said anything. The second one is Peter Obi. I’m always with Peter Obi until he decides not to.”

The ADC coalition, which includes prominent politicians such as David Mark, Atiku Abubakar, Nasir el-Rufai, Rotimi Amaechi, and Rauf Aregbesola, has described Baba-Ahmed’s remarks as his personal opinions that do not represent the coalition’s official stance.
