Nigerian artist Ahmed Ololade, popularly known as Asake, has surpassed Burna Boy to become the artist with the most entries on the Billboard US Afrobeats Songs chart.
Following the release of his new album, *Lungu Boy*, Asake debuted nine tracks on the chart this week, bringing his total entries to 50. His song “Active,” featuring American rapper Travis Scott, currently sits at the top of the chart.
Burna Boy, who previously held the record, gained widespread recognition with his 2019 album *African Giant*, which earned him a Grammy nomination and a spot on Billboard’s list of the 50 Best Albums of 2019. He went on to win the Grammy for Best Global Music Album in 2021 with his fifth studio album, *Twice as Tall*.
The Billboard US Afrobeats Songs chart, which launched in April 2022, highlights the growing global appeal of Afrobeats, a genre pioneered by Fela Anikulapo Kuti. Today, artists like Wizkid, Burna Boy, Davido, Tems, and Tiwa Savage continue to carry Afrobeats onto the international stage, captivating audiences worldwide with their unique sound.
