London, England — Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has called on his players to convert their disappointment into determination as they prepare for a crucial UEFA Champions League clash against Paris Saint-Germain (PSG).
Arteta’s charge came in the aftermath of a 2-1 Premier League defeat to Bournemouth at the Emirates Stadium on Saturday — a result that dealt a blow to the team’s domestic momentum.
Addressing the club’s media team, Arteta reflected on the emotional state of the squad, acknowledging the wave of frustration that followed recent setbacks, including the 1-0 loss to PSG in the first leg of the UCL semi-final last Tuesday.
“We aimed to create a positive atmosphere, and a win today would’ve boosted our confidence heading into Wednesday,” the Spaniard noted.
He admitted the loss had left the team with “rage, anger, frustration, and a knot in the stomach,” sentiments he believes must now be channeled productively.
Arteta stressed the importance of transforming negative emotions into a high-level performance when the Gunners visit Paris midweek. “Let’s take all that energy to Paris,” he urged. “Let’s win that game and book our place in the final.”
With the second leg looming large, Arteta’s message was clear — resilience, unity, and response will be vital in overcoming the French giants and chasing European glory.
