The 6 Brigade Nigerian Army/Sector 3 of Operation Whirl Stroke, OPWS, has successfully apprehended four suspected members of the Ambazonia rebel group in Taraba State.

Alongside the arrest, troops also verified the recovery of stolen pipelines belonging to the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation Limited (NNPCL) within the state.

According to a statement released to journalists in Jalingo, the state’s capital, the Acting Spokesperson of the Brigade, Captain Oni Olubodunde, disclosed that the suspects were captured on December 18, 2024, at a hotel in Takum Local Government Area based on credible intelligence.

Upon initial questioning, the suspects confessed to participating in arms proliferation activities and engaging in weapon exchanges for cocoa with collaborators in Nigeria.

The statement further noted that four mobile phones were confiscated from the suspects, who are presently under custody for ongoing investigations. In a separate operation, troops stationed in the Natilde community of Bantaji District, Wukari Local Government Area, intercepted a truck transporting 19 stolen NNPCL pipelines.
