Army Chief Encourages Continued Technological Innovation Among Personnel

The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Taoreed Lagbaja, has called on the personnel of the Command Central Engineering Depot (CED) of the Nigerian Army to maintain their technological innovation and ingenuity in the repair and refurbishment of combat platforms.

During his visit to the Engineering Depot in Kaduna on Monday, General Lagbaja received a briefing from the Commander, Major General Babatunde Alaya, on the Depot’s efforts in rebuilding, reboring, and refitting damaged combat vehicles to support army formations across the country.

General Lagbaja urged the personnel to continue their operational momentum and support frontline troops through efficient engineering interventions. He emphasized that the CED is crucial to sustaining the operational readiness of the Nigerian Army’s equipment, aligning with his command philosophy.

He praised the dedication of the Commander, officers, soldiers, and civilian staff at the Depot for embracing his vision of transforming the Nigerian Army into a well-trained, well-equipped, and highly motivated force capable of fulfilling its constitutional duties.

General Lagbaja also commended the previous leadership of the Nigerian Army for reviving the former Central Engineering Depot, now a vital and innovative Command Engineering Depot.

During his visit, General Lagbaja inspected various production sections of the Depot and interacted with personnel. He was accompanied by Major General John Ochai, Commandant of the Nigerian Defence Academy, Major General Lander Saraso, GOC 2 Division, and other senior officers from the Nigerian Army.
