The Arewa Youths for Peace and Security have urged President Bola Tinubu to intervene in the ongoing leadership dispute within the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW). The group has called for the Minister of Transport to ensure that vehicles provided with federal assistance be handed over to Tajudeen Baruwa, who is the court-recognized leader of the union.
Zainab Usman, the group’s chairperson, made the appeal following concerns raised by various NURTW stakeholders. The group alleges that some officials were attempting to divert the vehicles to Musiliu Akinsanya, known as MC Oluomo, despite the Court of Appeal’s ruling invalidating his claim to the presidency of the union.
“We believe President Tinubu, as a father figure who upholds the rule of law, will not allow his administration’s reputation to be tarnished by disregarding the court’s decision,” Usman stated.
The group emphasized that resolving the crisis within NURTW requires strict adherence to legal rulings and fairness in government actions. They have urged the President to act swiftly to prevent further divisions within the union.
