The Court of Appeal in Abuja has affirmed Chief Kenneth Udeze as the legitimate National Chairman of the Action Alliance (AA), delivering a significant legal victory to the Udeze-led faction of the party. This ruling comes after an appeal was filed by the faction led by Rufai Omoaje, challenging the legitimacy of the Ondo State governorship primary conducted by Udeze’s faction.
In its judgment, the Appeal Court upheld Udeze’s chairmanship and validated the primary election process carried out under his leadership for the upcoming Ondo State governorship race. The court’s unanimous ruling stated that the primary, conducted by the Udeze-led national executives, was legally compliant, rejecting claims to the contrary.
The court found no merit in the appeal filed by the Omoaje faction, marking it as unfounded and dismissing it entirely. This decision reinforces previous rulings by the Court of Appeal that have consistently recognized Udeze’s leadership as the authentic governing body of the Action Alliance.
The judgment further solidifies Udeze’s standing within the party and supports the continuity of his leadership. The verdict effectively ends internal disputes over the party’s leadership and the Ondo governorship nomination, clarifying Udeze’s role and the validity of the primary election his team organized.
The Court of Appeal’s ruling aligns with an earlier decision by the Federal High Court in Abuja. Presided over by Justice Joyce Abdulmalik, the Federal High Court had previously dismissed a lawsuit by the Omoaje faction contesting the nomination of Action Alliance’s Ondo State governorship candidate. Justice Abdulmalik had ruled in favor of Udeze, dismissing the Omoaje-led faction’s claims.
This outcome reaffirms Chief Udeze’s authority over the party’s primary elections and nominations, strengthening his leadership status as Action Alliance prepares for the Ondo State election. The court’s decision not only endorses Udeze’s position as chairman but also upholds the democratic processes led by his team.
With this ruling, Udeze’s leadership gains further judicial backing, ensuring that the Action Alliance moves forward under his direction for the Ondo governorship contest, and signaling a united front in the party’s approach to upcoming elections.
