APC Governors Assert Dominance Over ADC and Other Parties Ahead of 2027 Elections

Abuja, NigeriaAhead of the 2027 general elections, All Progressives Congress (APC) Governors have reaffirmed their confidence, declaring that the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and other opposition parties stand no chance against the APC.

Senator Hope Uzodinma, Chairman of the APC Governors Forum, made this declaration during a visit to the party’s national secretariat in Abuja on Tuesday, where he inspected the ICT/Data Centre alongside Kogi State Governor Usman Ododo. The visit, held under the Progressive Governors Forum (PGF), was preparatory to the upcoming electronic registration of party members.

Uzodinma emphasized the political landscape in Nigeria is essentially a contest between two entities: “I know there are only two parties in Nigeria, the All Progressives Congress and others,” he remarked when asked about ADC’s claim that APC’s continued governance post-2027 would be disastrous, dismissing it as mere conjecture.

Commenting on the visit to the national secretariat, he said, “We came to monitor and evaluate the progress of the e-registration exercise. After inspecting the facilities, we are highly impressed and confident that the registration will commence at full capacity very soon.”

Expressing support for the APC’s newly elected national chairman, Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, Uzodinma praised his energy and intelligence, stating, “Look at him, this handsome, tall man, full of energy and intelligence. Our party is excited and confident that he is the leader we need.”

Yilwatda, who guided the governors on the tour, highlighted APC’s leadership status in Nigeria’s political arena: “We are exemplary as a party. You can see this in how we conduct ourselves in the National Executive Council (NEC), how governors and members relate with the party, and how we have made APC attractive to the nation.”

He further underscored the importance of technology in bolstering the party’s membership and electoral success: “Through technology, we can know the number of our supporters, predict voting patterns, and strengthen our base in every state. This approach aids research and enhances our capacity to support members across all levels.”

Governor Usman Ododo pledged unwavering loyalty to President Bola Tinubu, the national chairman, and the party machinery to sustain electoral victories.

In related developments, Yilwatda presided over his first meeting of the APC National Working Committee (NWC) since his appointment at the party’s 177th regular meeting held at the national secretariat. Though no public statements were issued, the committee reportedly reviewed plans for the electronic membership registration and scheduled activities ahead of the 2026 Ekiti governorship election.
