The All Progressives Congress (APC) has criticized the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) following a meeting of PDP governors in Enugu, where they accused the APC of economic destruction and institutional decay.
In a statement signed by its National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, the APC rebuked the PDP governors, labeling them as “barefaced heirs of a legacy of sleaze and ruin, morally and politically unfit to point fingers.”
The APC stated that the PDP governors lack an understanding of their responsibilities as chief executives of their states to utilize resources for the benefit of their people.
The APC accused the PDP governors of being idle spectators and executive free-loaders, blaming the federal government for their failures in service delivery.
The statement highlighted the case of Delta State, governed by the PDP since 1999, as an example of corruption, misrule, and failure to pay salaries and pensions.
The APC criticized the PDP governors for failing to pay the legal minimum wage to their workers while accusing the APC-led administration of delays in approving a new minimum wage.
The APC pointed out that projects awarded and paid for as far back as 2003 and 2010 were being completed and commissioned by the current administration, citing the work of the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Barr. Nyesom Wike. The APC claimed that these projects had been abandoned by successive PDP administrations.
The APC also mentioned the petroleum subsidy regime and foreign exchange regimes sustained by the PDP, which they alleged led to the pillaging of the nation’s economy.
The APC asserted that the current government is working diligently to revitalize the economy and bring enduring prosperity to all Nigerians, despite the transient hardships caused by corrective policies.
In conclusion, the APC criticized the PDP’s 16 years of rule, stating that the party built nothing remarkable and highlighting the efforts of the APC-led administration to improve the nation’s economy and infrastructure.
