Osun – The Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has accused Dr. Deji Adeleke, elder brother of Governor Ademola Adeleke and father of Nigerian music star Davido, of contract racketeering and mismanagement of public funds.
In a statement issued on Tuesday by Kola Olabisi, APC’s Director of Media & Information, the opposition party alleged that Dr. Adeleke had secured inflated borehole contracts at N14 million per unit, many of which were left unexecuted.
The APC compared this to similar borehole projects under former Governor Gboyega Oyetola, claiming they were fully constructed for less than N2 million each.
The party further accused Dr. Adeleke of wielding excessive influence over state affairs, labeling him the “Unofficial Governor-General of Osun State.” They also alleged that Governor Adeleke’s elder sister, Mrs. Dupe Adeleke-Sanni, was handling key administrative functions, while Governor Ademola Adeleke had been reduced to a mere figurehead and referred to as the “Governor-in-Charge of Entertainment.”
APC Demands Investigation
Calling for an immediate investigation by anti-corruption agencies, the APC urged authorities to probe the Adeleke administration’s contract awards and hold those responsible accountable.
“It is painful that imaginary and audio borehole projects were allegedly superintended by Dr. Deji Adeleke for an insane N14 million while similar projects, which are still functioning today, were built for less than N2 million during Oyetola’s administration.”
The party accused the Adeleke family and key government officials of using their influence to corner government contracts, violating extant procurement laws.
Osun Government Yet to Respond
As of now, the Osun State Government and Dr. Deji Adeleke have not issued any statements in response to the allegations. However, the accusations have sparked heated debate in political circles, with many awaiting an official response or rebuttal from the Adeleke administration.
