Los Angeles, USA — Grammy-winning Beninese music icon, Angelique Kidjo, is set to make history as the first African artist to receive a star on the prestigious Hollywood Walk of Fame.
The announcement was made by the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce, which unveiled the list of 2026 honorees. Kidjo’s inclusion marks a major milestone in African representation in global entertainment.
Other honorees in the 2026 class include American pop sensation Miley Cyrus, acclaimed French actor Timothée Chalamet, sports legend Shaquille O’Neal, and Broadway star Lea Salonga. International film icons such as Marion Cotillard (France), Deepika Padukone (India), Emily Blunt (UK), and Rachel McAdams (Canada) also made the list.
While the exact dates for the induction ceremonies are yet to be scheduled, the honorees are expected to receive their stars within two years, in accordance with tradition.
Kidjo, who is renowned for blending African music with global influences, has consistently used her platform to celebrate African heritage and advocate for social justice. Her selection for the Walk of Fame spotlights the growing recognition of African talent on the world stage.
