Osogbo, Nigeria — The Western Nigeria Security Network Agency, also known as the Amotekun Corps, has announced the deployment of 500 operatives to ensure maximum security during the 2025 Osun-Osogbo Festival.
The announcement was made on Tuesday in a statement by the Corps’ Public Relations Officer, Mr. Yusuf Abass, highlighting the agency’s commitment to protecting residents, tourists, and dignitaries attending the globally recognized cultural event.
According to Abass, the deployment of officers to critical locations in Osogbo, the Osun State capital, is part of the Corps’ proactive measures to maintain peace and order ahead of the August 8 festival.
Mr. Adekunle Omoyele, the State Commander of Amotekun, assured the public that both uniformed and plain-clothes officers will be stationed across festival venues, major routes, and areas where large gatherings are expected.
In his remarks, Omoyele warned against any form of criminal activity, stressing that “miscreants, including pickpockets, hoodlums, and troublemakers, will face the full wrath of the law.”
He described the festival as not only a cultural heritage event but also a platform that draws international attention to Osun State, emphasizing that its peace and sanctity must be preserved.
Omoyele encouraged all attendees to celebrate responsibly and promptly report any suspicious behaviour or breach of peace to the nearest Amotekun officer or other security personnel.
