Abuja, Nigeria—In response to Nigeria’s deepening food security challenges, the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security has called for a series of prayer and fasting sessions, urging staff to seek divine intervention for national development and protection.
The directive was issued through an internal circular dated June 11, 2025, signed by Mrs. Adedayo Modupe O., Director of Human Resource Management, and made available via the Ministry’s official X (formerly Twitter) platform.
According to the circular, all categories of staff—ranging from directors and deputy directors to value chain officers—are invited to participate in the solemn sessions.
“This is to invite all staff of the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security to a solemn prayer session for God’s guidance and success in supporting the government’s efforts to achieve food security,” the notice read.
Themed “Divine Intervention for Protection and National Development,” the sessions are scheduled for June 16, 23, and 30, 2025, from 12:00 PM to 12:30 PM at Conference Hall “B” of the ministry’s headquarters in Area 11, Abuja. Staff are encouraged to attend while observing a fast on the stated dates.
A source within the ministry, who requested anonymity, described the initiative as a reflection of the urgent realities on ground.
“We are facing significant hurdles in achieving our food security targets,” the source noted. “While strategic policies and programmes are in place, we believe spiritual guidance is equally essential to ensure every Nigerian has access to sufficient and nutritious food.”
The ministry reaffirmed its commitment to combining institutional efforts with spiritual reflection in pursuit of a food-secure Nigeria.
