Governor Ademola Adeleke has announced plans to prioritize soft infrastructure in 2025, following two years of significant state upgrades.
In his New Year address, Governor Adeleke reflected on his administration’s achievements, including improvements in roads, education, healthcare, and local infrastructure. He assured Osun residents of continued progress through ongoing and new social programs designed to alleviate economic hardships.
“This year will witness extensive implementation of soft infrastructure, complementing physical projects with strong, healthy citizens,” the governor stated in a release by his spokesperson, Mallam Olawale Rasheed.
Governor Adeleke highlighted his administration’s transparency and commitment to accountability, citing the use of state resources without borrowing or accessing security votes to fund projects. He emphasized his dedication to workers’ welfare, including paying pensions, gratuities, and implementing the new minimum wage.
The governor also extended an olive branch to opposition parties, urging collaboration to improve the state’s fortunes. “We are all stakeholders. Let’s work together for Osun’s progress,” he said, encouraging utilization of the Freedom of Information Act for governance data.
Adeleke detailed accomplishments over the past two years, including rehabilitating 150 kilometers of roads, upgrading 100 schools, refurbishing 200 health centers, and initiating over 300 community projects. He also underscored support for artisans, local businesses, youth empowerment programs, and care for senior citizens.
Looking ahead, the governor pledged to address remaining challenges, enhance investment opportunities, and build on the state’s achievements. “Our successes reflect collective efforts. Together, we will create a better future for Osun,” he concluded.
