LAGOS STATE – The Lagos State chapter of the All Progressives Congress, APC, has warned Nigerians against emerging political coalitions it says lack genuine structure, ideology and long-term vision.
In a statement released on Friday, the party’s spokesperson, Seye Oladejo, warned against the opposition coalition spearheaded by the African Democratic Congress, ADC, and a number of other political groups.
Oladejo dismissed the coalition as a loose assembly of politicians driven more by personal ambition than national interest.
Describing the alliance as “a congregation of political journeymen,” Oladejo said the coalition lacks ideological coherence, grassroots backing, or any tangible policy framework to effect real change.
“The ADC’s latest effort to reposition itself is merely recycled rhetoric. These alliances are often orchestrated by discontented politicians hoping to gain relevance through shortcuts rather than engaging in meaningful democratic processes with the Nigerian people,” he stated.
The Lagos APC also accused members of the coalition of what it termed “political bigamy,” alleging that many people involved still retain membership in their original parties while simultaneously aligning with the new group, an act it said was intended to mislead the public and gain undue attention.
The party downplayed the coalition’s relevance, labelling it as a short-lived distraction lacking the capacity to make a meaningful impact on the political landscape.
“The APC government remains focused and undeterred by political rabble-rousers. Our administration is committed to delivering on its promises to the Nigerian people,” the statement added.
The APC emphasised that the country’s future rests on proven governance, coherent policies, and national unity, qualities it said are not reflected in the new coalition movement.
“We are irrevocably committed to fulfilling our social contract with Nigerians. True leadership must be tested, accountable, and visionary. Unfortunately, these are attributes the ADC coalition fails to embody,” Oladejo said.
