A tragic accident on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway involved a Volvo truck transporting cows, a blue luxury bus, and a white Mazda bus, resulting in seven individuals sustaining injuries. The incident occurred at the Ibafo area of the expressway on Saturday morning. The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) spokesperson in Ogun State, Mrs.
Florence Okpe, confirmed the details of the accident to the press in Abeokuta. The collision, which took place at 5:35 a.m., involved a total of 14 people and 16 cows. The truck was carrying both livestock and passengers at the time of the accident. The cause of the crash is suspected to be driver fatigue, leading to the unfortunate death of some of the cows.
Those injured in the accident were promptly transported to Divine Touch Hospital in Ibafo for medical treatment. The Sector Commander, Mr. Anthony Uga, has cautioned motorists about the risks associated with transporting both humans and animals simultaneously. Uga advised drivers to take regular breaks, especially after four hours of driving, to prevent fatigue and prioritize safety on the roads.
