Abuja Airport runway temporarily closed for safety reasons

The Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, NAIA, Abuja runway has temporarily been closed to flight operations for safety reasons.

The runway was shut down to flight after an aircraft operated by Aero Contractors upon landing Sunday morning from Lagos in a bid to exit the runway via A4 had its nose wheel stuck in the grass verge with its fuselage on the runway.

Consequently, the runway was closed pending the towing of the aircraft from the runway.

The Nigerian Safety Investigation Bureau, says, it has been notified and has commenced investigation into the serious which occurred around 10:47am (Local Time) on 12th November, 2023.

According to the Bureau in a statement, there was no injury or fatality.

It therefore solicits information from the general public in form of pictures, video or recording evidences to assist in conducting a comprehensive investigation.
