In a statement issued on Thursday, the Chairman of the Abia State Civil Service Commission, Mrs. Eno Jerry-Eze, disclosed that the affected officials—all from the Ministry of Justice—were found to have manipulated the payroll system to unlawfully inflate their salaries over an extended period.
The dismissed officers include a Principal Accountant (Grade Level 12), a Senior Accountant (GL 10), a Chief Executive Officer, Accounts (GL 14), an Assistant Chief Executive Officer, Accounts (GL 13), a Principal Executive Officer, Accounts (GL 12), and a Senior Executive Officer, General Duties (GL 09).
According to Jerry-Eze, the decision to dismiss the officials was based on findings from a thorough internal audit and administrative investigation conducted by the state.
She further noted that the matter would be handed over to relevant law enforcement agencies for full criminal prosecution, in line with due process.
Reiterating the administration’s zero-tolerance policy on corruption, Jerry-Eze affirmed the government’s commitment to accountability and transparency in the public service.
