The Adover Handball Premier League’s inaugural phase commenced on Monday with an array of captivating matchups scheduled for both the men’s and women’s categories.
The competition, following last year’s format, unfolds in two phases and began at the Indoor Sports Hall of the Ogbemudia Stadium in Benin. Defending champions Niger United from Minna and FRSC Safety Babes from Abuja initiated their title defense campaigns on a promising note.
Niger United, with Chahul Joshua clinching the Man-of-the-Match title, secured a 33-28 victory over Benue Buffaloes, dominating the side from Makurdi 21-13 at halftime.
In an earlier fixture, Tojemarine Academy, featuring a youthful and dynamic roster, handed a 47-33 defeat to Adamawa Warriors. The encounter marked the Warriors’ debut at this level following their promotion from the championship to the elite division.
