Melinda French Gates to step down from Gates Foundation and receive $12.5 billion

Melinda French Gates has indeed resigned from her position as co-chair of the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, effective June 6, 2024. She expressed pride in the foundation’s work and confidence in its continued success under the leadership of CEO Mark Suzman and the board of trustees.

As part of her divorce agreement with Bill Gates, she will receive an additional $12.5 billion to continue her charitable work outside of the foundation. French Gates emphasized the importance of supporting women and girls, stating that now is a critical time to do more for gender equality initiatives.

She pledged to share more details about her future work soon, indicating her commitment to using the additional funds to advance her efforts on behalf of women and families
