Troops Neutralize Terrorists in Kaduna, Seize Arms

In a decisive counter-terrorism operation in Kaduna State, troops of the Nigerian Army have successfully eliminated several terrorists and thwarted the activities of violent extremists and kidnappers in Giwa Local Government Area.

According to a statement by Major General Onyema Nwachukwu, the Director of Army Public Relations, the operation targeted the terrorists’ stronghold in Basurfe village, southwest of Kidandan, following intelligence reports confirming the village as a key administrative hub for the insurgents.

Encountering an ambush upon approaching the village, the troops demonstrated tactical prowess, engaging the insurgents and forcing them to scatter in various directions. Amidst the confrontation, troops intercepted terrorists attempting to flee on motorbikes, neutralizing two and recovering two AK-47 rifles, three magazines, and a motorbike.

Expanding their operation, troops uncovered the insurgents’ administrative refuge situated strategically on high ground. This led to the seizure of additional weapons including a Semi Automatic Pump-action rifle, ammunition, an Improvised Explosive Device (IED), communication equipment, and medical supplies. The area was identified as a medical center for treating wounded terrorists.

General Nwachukwu emphasized that the operation highlights the Nigerian Army’s unwavering commitment to combating terrorism and restoring peace and stability not only in Kaduna State but across the nation.
