The Nigeria Communications Commission (NCC) recently demonstrated its commitment to inclusivity and digital empowerment by giving 50 HP computer laptops to the National Commission for Persons with Disabilities (NCPWD). The donation, made during a courtesy visit to NCPWD headquarters in Abuja, was led by the Executive Vice Chairman of NCC, Dr Aminu Maida, represented by Deputy Director Mr Tijani Munguno.
Dr Maida emphasized the importance of providing ICT tools to Persons With Disabilities (PWDs) to enhance their digital communication skills and competitiveness in the ICT market. The equipment aims to support NCPWD in achieving its mandate and promoting inclusivity through enhanced digital capacities.
In response, Dr James Lalu, the Executive Secretary of NCPWD, expressed gratitude for the donation and highlighted a commitment to collaborating with NCC to advance the digital communication skills of PWDs. He presented National Accessibility Manuals to the NCC delegation to ensure conformity with accessibility standards in their offices.
This partnership between NCC and NCPWD underscores the importance of digital technology in enhancing opportunities for all individuals, including those with disabilities. The donation of laptops will not only boost digital communication expertise among PWDs but also strengthen inclusivity and skills development within the disability community.
